Description

Real-Life Dracula: Vlad the Impaler & the Order of the Dragon

Long before Dracula became one of the world’s most famous fictional characters, the name had roots in real medieval history.

In 1408, King Sigismund of Luxembourg founded the Order of the Dragon, a knightly order created in part to defend Christian territories against Ottoman expansion. Vlad II, ruler of Wallachia, joined the Order in 1431 and became known as Dracul, meaning “Dragon.” His son, Vlad III, later became known as Dracula — Son of the Dragon.

This historical mini album contains a genuine medieval silver parvus, struck during the reign of Sigismund of Luxembourg (1387–1427), founder of the Order of the Dragon. The reverse features a Crusader-style cross, a symbol associated with the period and the Order.

Vlad III — better known today as Vlad the Impaler — never issued coins of his own, which makes this type of historically connected medieval coin especially interesting for collectors of Dracula history, Gothic culture and medieval Europe.

Perfect for collectors of:

Dracula • Vlad the Impaler • Medieval Coins • Gothic History • Transylvania • Order of the Dragon

A genuine medieval coin connected to the history behind the Dracula legend.
